Best nicknames you've had/heard?

Over the course of time, I developed three nicknames after well-meaning, but slow, protagonists: Bobby Boucher, Radio, and Gump (sometimes Gumpy). I was motivated but took a while to understand things, and also have a goofy smile that I can't wipe off my face no matter who I'm talking to. Got me into some hot water when I was new.
I also shit myself while running once and was Mr. Poopypants and...
Fort Bliss Bone Marrow Guy - Operation Ring The Bell: How a bunch of random soldiers from reddit are convincing the Army to become the largest source of donors in the United States.

Hello, I am the Fort Bliss Bone Marrow Guy. Originally just a single specialist quietly running Bone marrow donor registry drives across Fort Bliss. Now I am but one bone marrow person among a cult of bone marrow people.
Through the r/Army and r/Militarystoriesthis effort has grown larger than anyone could have ever predicted, and so ridiculously fast. Soldiers from reddit across the Army are...
SMA PAO is missed

When I was getting down with army stuff and things, sometimes there was a ray of hope shining through with SMA PAO commenting on some reddit post. It was nice to see top-down accountability in such crappy situations. Thank you for doing that, it was definitely above and beyond what was required.
I'll take my frefac to go

So proud of one of my NCOs. Not just for reenlisting, but doing it on the Division CSMs desk.

Stop Wasting Soldiers' Time
Posted on
All tasks in my company were completed before lunch yesterday. An hour after lunch, I see multiple soldiers, include mine, sitting around or trying to look busy. I asked the PSG if I could cut my guys loose since all tasks were completed and they have busted their asses all week. You know the response I got? "Keep them around in case something comes up." Much to my surprise, nothing came up. From...
What's your story that you wouldn't have had without the military?

One time I got put on CQ but had a dope NCO that released me during my SPC days. I went off base to get a few groceries and make my return. It's new years weekend and the gate guards are checking on people LEAVING the gate, as well as coming in (obviously). I get back to my barracks and there's dudes shotgunning beers in the parking lot. They ask me about the situation at the gate and are like,...

It was early 2000s I was a young SGT full of all the HOOAH!! I ran the Night Shift in the Mosul ER. My shift was coming to an end when one of the guys with a CAC from every branch came in.
I figured he wanted me to look up some NSNs which happened often enough. Turns out he caught something out there raw dogging it. So I told him the bad news that he would be getting rodded off the range. Here is...
Finally Made It To Star Command

After 9 years in the Army, I decided to pack up and leave for greener pastures, even if this greener pasture was another f******* desert. There were many factors that contributed to my decision but mainly the fact that there’s no NTC rotations and I don’t have to wake up at 5:30 in the f******* morning on a daily basis. Also my knees hurt. Good luck out there my fellow soldiers, with your field...
Is my recruiter lying to me about receiving BAH?

I want to enlist and have been talking with a recruiter and just took the asvab few days ago and got an 86 and he was ecstatic and has gone full salesman since. I have 2 kids with my fiance and he told me even though her and I are not married yet because we are engaged and have kids it counts and he put me down as married in the paperwork and is telling me I'd receive the BAH when I sign. I'm...
