I see those signs outside of the PX saying you can go from soldier to cashier but I can't imagine anyone has ever done that. I joined the army to get out of retail and I'd rather stay in than do that shit again.

Alright so my Battalion Commander and Sergeant Major send out an email to the entire battalion when someone has a baby. Usually the email looks like this:

“We would like to congratulate SGT Smith on the birth of his newborn son! He weighed 8 Lbs, 5 ounces, and was named [First, Middle, Last]. Congratulations!”

Some Specialist in my unit named his son the exact same name as the Battalion Commander....
