Allergic Rhinitis
Posted on
I was currently awarded a claim at 10% for allergic rhinitis with deviated septum.I was not able to get a CT Scan or endoscopy prior to the claim nor during my C&P exams. I did follow up with my PCP at the VA and was able to get a CT scan. In the reviewer's/Doctor's notes they noted a presence of Mucous retention cysts. My initial claim for allergic rhinitis was a presumptive claim due to my...
Have a current diagnosis of sinusitis, do I need a diagnosis or proof of treatment within 10 years of discharge to get service connection?
Posted on
My husband didn’t ever seek treatment for his sinusitis symptoms because he just self treated. He was formally diagnosed after the 10 year mark. He was denied SC, is it worth a higher level review just stating that he had these symptoms or is it fruitless?

MEDICAL OPINION REQUESTED: Direct service connection
OPINION: Direct service connection
Does the Veteran have a diagnosis of thoracolumbar degenerative disk disease that is at least as likely as not (50 percent or greater probability) incurred in or caused by the motor vehicle accident during service?
Response: VBMS is reviewed. It is less likely than not that the Veteran's thoracolumbar...
VA Claim help

So I submitted a claim for anxiety and depression and received a rating of 30%. I wasn’t completely honest in my exam because I have a hard time opening up. Would it seem suspicious if I put in for a increase? I don’t want the VA to think I am just looking for a higher rating and lieing about my condition, then end up losing my rating.

Travel Reimbursement Rate
Posted on
Wondering what the travel reimbursement rate is for our C&P exams? I see va.gov says 41.5 cents/mi and talks about a monthly deductible (is this for C&Ps too)? IRS mileage rate is 62.5 cents/mi. I drive an hour (47 miles) and see a check for $6.23…seems wrong. Check hasn’t been issued but is pending 🤔

Ear pain may not be a symptom of TMJ
Posted on
I was diagnosed with TMJ while on active duty. A recurring symptom was excruciating ear pain in my left ear. The doctor at the naval hospital and the civilian ENT I saw, stated my ear pain was caused by the TMJ. When I left active duty, I was service connected with TMJ, but not “left ear pain”. I assumed it was because it’s only a symptom of TMJ.
Fast forward 10 years later to today and my oral...

Average VA Claim Time

My fellow veterans, I hope everyone reading this gains favor in their claim process. I am writing this because I wish I had this info, all in one spot when I first started. I am trying to give everyone new here a very generalized answer, I am not a VA Claims pro. This just information I found from va claims insider, and just looking for myself about the VA claim timeline and process.
These are...
