Allergic Rhinitis
Posted on
I was currently awarded a claim at 10% for allergic rhinitis with deviated septum. I was not able to get a CT Scan or endoscopy prior to the claim nor during my C&P exams. I did follow up with my PCP at the VA and was able to get a CT scan. In the reviewer's/Doctor's notes they noted a presence of Mucous retention cysts. My initial claim for allergic rhinitis was a presumptive claim due to my service in OEF/OIF. I'd like to dispute this as those cysts could be considered polyps.
My questions for the group:
1) Should I try to get an endoscopy/further imaging to build my case or is that doctor's commentary good enough for my HLR/dispute? I have a referral to the VA's ENT clinic and I'm sure they could do that for me if I make the request, but I don't want to waste anyone's time if it's not needed.
2) Has anyone had a similar situation with mucous retention cysts being considered the same as polyps? I tried doing some research and it's hit or miss.
Either way, I'd like to get that bumped to the maximum 30% for allergic rhinitis as a presumptive condition.
Thank you again for all of the help!
