Does anyone worry about benefits going away in our lifetime?
Posted on
Working is a battle for me. I am almost at 100% and have conditions that warrant an increase but am terrified of my rating being reduced (I know this may be irrational but part of this severe anxiety is why I am rated what I am).
My question - I am pushing as hard as I can to the finish line for work, but my disabilities make it a battle. I could reasonably stop working in the next 5 years if I knew my benefits were a sure thing. Part of me is terrified of them going away and being completely screwed and leaving my family out to dry as well. Is it unwise to count on benefits for the remainder of my lifetime? (40s). I see the CBO proposals every few years and get massive panic attacks. Would we be grandfathered in to changes? Would love to hear some experienced veterans or VBA employees perspectives.
