What do you look for in a home?
Posted on
I'm looking to buy a home at my next duty station with the intention to rent out after I leave. I hear a lot people say they try to stay away from the Army after work, but I can't discount the convenience of only have to drive 5-10 minutes to work as opposed to 30-40 minutes. Some people want to live closer to areas of entertainment as opposed to work, but is driving an extra 5 hours each week...
Side gigs/moonlighting ideas
Posted on
What are some side gigs or moonlighting jobs you guys found worked well for you? I see delivery drivers and maybe bouncers from time to time. For myself I'll begin the Med board process in a few months and have a very flexible job so I'd be free pretty much at 7 pm until midnight and weekends until I'm out. Any tips or ideas. Thanks!

Staff Duty Ghost Stories

Middle of a four-day Staff Duty, just realized I’m only halfway done with the shift.
We’re getting to the spooky season of the year. Anyone have good ghost stories or weird experiences in their career?

There’s no reason why Jumpmasters shouldn’t get extra pay.

Guarantee the JM shortage would go away and people would be much more motivated to be a JM if it was double the jump pay.
Why would I want to be a Jumpmaster? More responsibility and putting your whole ass on the line if something goes wrong and for what? Oh, at least I get to don my parachute later on than everybody else. Big whoop.
If you’re a JM, first off thank you, genuinely, for all that you...
Insulated Canteen Pouch

In the olden ALICE days the canteen pouch had a little bit of insulation, and these new canteen/general purpose pouches ain’t cutting it. Is there such a thing as an insulated MOLLE canteen pouch? Or is that gone with the dream of beards, SMA PAO, and happy Soldiers?
Im prepping for my H&W, I’ll take a whopperito

The New WOCS

Boy oh boy! Buckle up! No more pump and dump curriculum. New capstone is rolling out and it’s currently a dumpster fire. My class is “lucky” enough to be the final pilot before it’s 100% implementated across all classes start for 23-26 and beyond. If you can’t write, you’re going to struggle. I’d advise taking a writing composition class ahead of WOCS.

Need help for overcoming homesickness/loneliness

I'm PFC and just got to AIT at Fort Gegg Adam's (old Fort Lee). I came here right after BCT. This is the longest I've been on my own by myself. I've come to realize that everyone I cared about doesn't care about me the same while I'm gone. My friends don't care, my girlfriend (who I think might be cheating), my parents don't care too much, and I've been pretty lonely. I've talked to my DS about...
Doing well in the Army but not well liked at all at West Point. Could it fuck up my career down the line?
Posted on
Without doxing myself, I graduated from West Point in 2020 and had an awful four years there. I struggled to make friends and frequently found myself to be the target of bullying and social ostracism. I was also not highly thought of by my officer and enlisted leadership there either.
Since graduating I've found my niche and, I think all things considered, am doing quite well. I have never gotten...
