Hi all first post here - I signed my reserve contract (6+2) in Jan 2016, went to basic, came back for monthly drills. 6 years later I finished my active part and have been inactive since Jan 2022 - haven’t been to drill or talked to anybody from the Army since. With Jan 2024 coming in a few months I’m considering re-enlisting before I’m “completely out”, as I recently found out I only had 5 “good years” for retirement. I would like to apply for VA home loans in the near future but I heard the requirement is at least 6 good years. So I’m considering a year of extension, or pick an MOS I like (was 91B, didn’t like it) for another 6 years.

Any guidance on this plan? Is it even feasible? Is it too late? Appreciate for your input.
