Question about CPAP
Posted on
I'm getting super paranoid. My claim has been in the works since Jan. '22. My last C&P exam was last month for sleep apnea. The results specifically say I have "severe sleep apnea" and my sleep efficiency is 66.2% However, I was not issued a CPAP. Everyone seems to believe that a CPAP guarantees a good rating/service-connection. I contacted the VA and requested a CPAP based on the findings but they want to do their own sleep study, which seems redundant because the VA already scheduled the C&P through LHI. So why do I need to do another one? (Is this simply a VBA vs VHA thing?) I'm concerned this means I won't get compensated for sleep apnea because I don't have a CPAP.
Now my mind is going in this loop: The VA is supposed to give me a CPAP for sleep apnea, but because I haven't been rated for sleep apnea, they won't give me a CPAP for my sleep apnea... But because I don't have a CPAP for my sleep apnea, I won't be rated for sleep apnea, wherefore I won't receive a CPAP for my sleep apnea...
This is obviously making me very anxious. I'm just trying to avoid needing to appeal. I'm genuinely confused and wondering if anyone can provide clarity on how this works. Thanks in advance.
P.S. What are the chances of service-connection being denied based on BMI?
