I was just minding my own business today, I’m in college and have a handful of minor issues with joints and things like that. The main claim I’ve been trying to get compensation for since I got out in 2021 was for insomnia. I was able to get it service connected back in 2022 but got 0% for it, which I wasn’t happy with at first, but was happy about the service connection.

Fast forward to this past summer. I’ve had some serious issues around mental health and was working to get my old therapist in the military to write me a letter to support a higher rating. The VA had me see a second psychiatrist over the summer for evaluation. I submitted for this updated claim back in April and was wondering if this would ever be resolved.

Today as I crawl into bed I check my bank account as it’s been a few days and I almost lost it when I saw the back pay. I checked online and saw I was rated for 50% for insomnia. Honestly I could cry. I’ve had to work in college to support myself and it’s sucked so much because my sleep schedule will inevitably fuck me up, and I’ve just not been feeling amazing since getting out of the mil. With this I might just quit my jobs and try and take care of myself at this point.
