do you know what's messed up?

Having to do a C&P for mental health.
Veteran with mental issues, already in a weird headspace, trying to claim disabilty and also justify to themselves they are worthy of it/arent broken.
The veteran then has to sit and wait for an appointment, and when they do recieve one, it's going to be at least a week away from when they get it scheduled. Que more weird headspace.
Then the veteran has to relieve their lowest moments with a person who has the power of God over their future. This person whom they have never met, and may even only be a figure on a telehealth appointment screen.
The veteran often has less than an hour to convince this figure who holds their lives and sanity in their hands that they are here seeking help and not just looking for a handout.
Then to put the cherry on top of the shit sandwich that is the whole system, the veteran hangs up or leaves the office, and they are alone...After bringing up trauma and emotions strong enough to kill a normal person, the veteran is just released back into the world to go about their day. There's no follow up, "hey, you okay?" from the VA, there's nothing but an empty sinking feeling paired with the constant anxiety of "did I do it right? Did I leave everything on the table?"
Anyway, I had a c&p today, and was left numb at the end of it. I'm Thankful for my buddy checks and family, but I know many struggle and ARE alone.
I just wanted to say, this is a stupid stupid way to do things, and I have mad respect for all of you that are fighting to get what's yours. You are a warrior, never let them take that away from you.
