Depression & Anxiety Claim Questions
Posted on
Hi everyone. I’m new to the group and am a ball of anxiety right now. I was honorably discharged from the military in 2018 for severe depression and anxiety, suicidal ideations, was sexually assault and harassed by several soldiers in my unit… yada yada. Anyway. I’ve never once filed a claim or reported anything outside of my therapists’ office. She’s very certain that I would qualify for 90-100% disability. That was back in October. My spouse was sent to Korea in December last year and a lot of my mental health issues were put on hold because I’m a stay at home mom x2. I’m just wondering what do I need to do for proof? All I have is my DD214, and when I go to records they tell me I have to request info from past duty stations which I never hear back from. Is an evaluation by a professional enough? I’m not sure how the process would work. I’m going to reach out to my therapist but would appreciate any knowledge from people who have been through this type of claim process. Also do they give back pay? Thank you.
Note: I’m not currently medicated but should be idk if that matters. Happy to answer any questions
