Like come on bro (being the Army leadership) the reason people aren’t enlisting is because people come back to their hometowns and tell people how ass the experience was. Some of this angst comes from working with ass leaders in the JAGC, but also I’m a moron Captain and it takes me 14 seconds of reading Reddit to see that Soldiers just want to be respected and have their time respected, and maybe grow a beard. But instead we’ll just lower standards, just like the JAG Corps, rather than treat lawyers like people, is going to promote 95% of eligible captains to Major next year. That’s just my small window of experience into not valuing people.

Can we not just treat people decently to retain and recruit them?
