Difference in Military retirement vs GS retirement?

So I'm coming up on 10 years AD and I was thinking I could finish up my degree then get out the army and get a GS job and buy back my 10 years of service and still get a retirement. I've searched the internet to try and find the differences in BRS retirement vs GS retirement but have come up with very few answers. Option 01 Airborne school?

I’m in the process of enlisting and I want to go 15c with an option 01 to go soar. They coincidentally just posted a recruiting ad today and it discussed the pipeline of schooling which was basic, ait, airborne school, and then the “special operations aviation enlisted combat skills” which I think is called green platoon.

We're doing a 4-day FTX. Whenever we leave our sleeping area we are expected to have our full body armor on. On day 2 our 1SG did a morale event where whoever could hold a plank the longest could go straight home. Anyways I was able to hold it for the longest out of my platoon and I went home.
