I had a soldier approach me asking for money, got a really weird feeling
Posted on
I was getting gas at a gas station in eastern North Carolina when a person approached me in full combat uniform (aside from a hat). He had a patch with his name and had buzzed hair, and seemed legit to me at first. He then began talking to me and I could barely understand what he was saying, very quiet and kind of slurred or incomprehensible speech. I did catch he was asking for $26 because he was short and needed a motel room & something about seeing his mom or maybe attending her funeral? I gave him the cash and he drove off in a black sedan. However what I found really odd was he said he was stationed at Fort Bliss, which is a straight 26 hour drive from here. I also just got an odd feeling with him, I wouldn’t say dangerous, but something was wrong and you could see it in his eyes. I’m a civilian so I have no idea if this kind of behavior is normal, did I get scammed?
