Hello all. I really need help. I am grasping for straws here and this is an all time low for me in my career so far.

I PCS’d to Korea early in the year. My wife, who exited the military shortly before I left, stayed behind in the states to stay with the house we just purchased and continue college.

When I got my orders to Korea, my projected HAAP was not my home base. I went to my HR manager and said I decline this HAAP; I need to return to my home base because my wife is staying there and will not be able to move with me somewhere else when I return because of college. He got back to me with amended orders stating my projected HAAP was my home base, and my wife and I were assuming this is what would happen and planned accordingly.

Fast forward to July of this year, my STP states the original base, that I denied, as my projected follow on assignment. I contacted my branch manager, explaining my situation, and she was not helpful whatsoever and essentially told me to get fucked.

I get my 1SG involved, they reach out to branch, and they admit that whoever gave me the amended orders back to my home base did so in ERROR. They made a mistake. And furthermore essentially told me to get fucked and that “strengths do not support me returning.”

1SG gets our CSM involved, they email branch, same thing. “Those orders were made in error, and we can’t help SM return back to his home base” (where my wife is, and where my house that I have lived in for about a month total is).

I clearly communicated to branch that my wife will be unable to move with me to another base. They don’t give a fuck. I also think it’s absolutely bullshit that there isn’t a single slot available for me on my home base; it’s not like I am requesting for a particular unit.

I’m just not sure what to do at this point and HRC’s lack of sympathy is unacceptable, infuriating, and at this point affecting my work performance and my wife and I’s well-being.

My command team at this point thinks an IG complaint will help but I don’t know what that will resolve.

Does anyone have any advice on this? Anyone been in a similar situation? I refuse to believe that I am out of options and I am running out of time.
