Attempted to do food stamp
Posted on
So, i live in jblm.
Washington is expensive and inflation was bad. Yes, and i bought a house last year and i planned this for long time and it came at a bad time.
We got lucky and got low interest (thank god) but bought house 10k above listing and had 20k of equity when it was evaluated.
Long story short, bah wouldnt cover the mortgage of course and inflation hit.
It is still doable. Then i saw something about food stamp here.
Then i wondered and asked around. Nobody knew.
So, i did all the application (very hard and loooooong wait for an interview) and then i called and asked for an appt.
Talked to them and blah blah and came to a conclusion that i would def get a “0”. I said i would not submit my application bc it would be waste of their time.
So, in washington, in order to be top 200% poverty line with people of two (married) you have to make less than 3,700 a month of gross income. So, even if you lets say made 3,500, you would have got 20 or max 40 bucks on food stamp.
Well, of course it surpassed what i make since my life worked part time. I think even e-3 who is married will surpass that bc of bah and bas.
In conclusion, if anyone was wondering, we as military would be really difficult to get food stamp. Also, my interviewer had hard time with my income history bc she said she never encounter active duty military before.
Honestly, it would have been nice to pocket that money bc of inflation and i would really prob used that money on food.
Edit:
I am not stupid and naive. I was being sarcastic that i am even going to get looked at.
Its for general knowledge and soldiers might not know how to seek help so i did it myself. I knew i wasnt going to actually submitted. But, we are underpaid for real especially in washington area.
