I was just wondering what actual members of the military thought about mandatory service? Me and a friend were talking about it the other day and we both agreed that it seemed like a bad idea, but wanted to get some input from voluntary servicepeople.

I'm curious, how the design goals of a shoe meant for such serious business, differ from regular shoes. Particularly compared to different sport shoes, that are also meant for intensive use.
