What rating to expect for Chronic Sinusitis and Chronic Rhinitis?
Posted on
Hey guys,
Was hoping you could help me determine what my rating might be for Chronic Sinusitis. New to the VA and submitted my papers last month. Served in Iraq in 2009 so covered by PACT Act.
Symptoms were/are sinus congestion, headaches, purulent discharge, and tenderness of the sinus area. One side of nose is 100% plugged, but mostly only at night. During the day, while I'm moving around it's mostly open.
Had antibiotics for sinus infections 22x since 2012 (about 4-5x per year.) Mostly just went to minute clinic each infection and received antibiotics. In 2017, went to an ENT and was formally diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitis. Had surgery 2x in 2017 for deviated septum and turbinate and the later surgery for turbinate reduction.
Sinus infections mostly went away until 2022 (had 2-3 that year,) and had 4 sinus infections this year that required antibiotics. All these were treated by Minute Clinic (acute sinusitis visits,) where I received antibiotics.
Only saw the ENT once since then and he says the sinuses look clear so allergies are likely responsible for the continued symptoms. Still have continuous symptoms even though they aren't nearly as bad as before the surgeries. At night, they are the worst. Still get sinus infections that require antibiotics every time I get a cold (3-4x) per year.
I'm not sure if I screwed myself by going to minute clinic instead of the ENT for my infections. Also, not sure if the diagnosis of Chronic Sinusitis before my surgeries will screw me, or if I need another diagnosis.
What do you think my rating will be?
