Vet with Parkinson’s, need advice
Posted on
Hi all, using the wife’s account.
I’m 75 and have had many of the symptoms of Parkinson’s for about 2 years now. Because of moving and family issues, I’ve not been diagnosed yet.
I don’t even have a GP, so I’ll probably be setting up an appointment at the local VA soon. I’m also looking into a private doctor.
Can ya’ll tell me what my chances would be for a service connected claim?
I’ve had several small strokes, a pulmonary embolism, blocked carotid artery (had surgery), for the last 2 years I’ve had, stiff legs, horrible balance issues, can’t walk without walker, can’t get up without assistance from wife, hard to feed myself because of shaky weak arms, urinary incontinence (fully), some bowel incontinence, etc.
I have the tell tale signs of tremor, slow movement, small writing, very soft voice with while talking really fast and stuttering. Wife says she can hardly hear me or understand what I’m saying. What a mess, huh? 🤪
Anyway, just looking for some hope of getting disability. I served in Vietnam war time, 4 years, Navy. Also, I had a bad case of Bronchitis while serving.
Hope to hear from some of you!

Edit: after talking with my wife, and her asking me questions to try and remember, this is what she found o line, and is exactly what I remember.

“Almost every enlisted service member in the Navy or Coast Guard remembers painting. Hours and hours of painting, and hours and hours of needle gunning, sanding, and using deck growlers to remove paint. The dust from the paint would clog our pores, and it would be difficult to remove, even in the shower. Primer and paint covered our skin and clothing.”
