Got my decision...too fast?!?
Posted on
Filed a BDD claim months ago as I retired from the air force. In mid June I got a decision package for 90%. Totally floored. 2 issues were deferred. Never got any money as of yet. The decision letter all looked good to me.
But THEN I logged on to ebenefits yesterday and it looks like they made a decision on the two deferred items. I'm now 100%. Again, floored. I didn't go to any additional appointments, I did all C&P many months ago... It just looks like they needed more time to decide on those two issues.
Does anybody know why they did this? Is that normal? Do they normally make interim decisions and then 3 weeks later make decision on more issues?
I spoke to the VA rep yesterday asking if there was a mistake and he said they can't discuss percentages on the phone, but basically let me understand that I can see a commissary letter and a comment on my benefits letter online that I'm P&T. So it's legit, I'm 100 P&T, and I should get the updated decision package in the mail any day now.
My benefits verification memo online has dollar amounts different though, gross benefit amount is in line with 100%, but the net amount paid is stuck at 90%. I have no debts, and a regular 22 year retirement. I should get the full 100% amount with automatic CRDP right? It just might take a month or two for the audits and everything to get ironed out... Right? Can anybody confirm this line of thinking?
**Edit:. Because some people DM and wanted to know: my major issues were shrapnel wounds in my legs and back from combat in 2003 (opening phase of Iraq war). Then PTSD. TBI rolled into that. Hearing loss from explosions.i think having the purple heart might have helped but unsure really.
