Hey guys, Im new to all of this so please bear with me lol. I separated from the service a little over a year ago and had my first disability evaluation as of today. The Nurse Practitioner was very dismissive of what I had to say, misconstrued my words because she wouldn’t listen to me, and got an attitude when I tried to correct her on one of the issues I have. I kept my mouth shut out of fear of retribution (due to her being the one examining me) but realize I probably should have requested somebody else for the examination.

I told the receptionists (also nurses) that I was disappointed with the service as I felt like I was treated as another number in the system and being pushed out the door. But the receptionists were very helpful and called me back to set up another exam with the doctor instead. Im more than willing to go, but I told them I had to talk to my VSO first as I wasn’t sure what to do because my VSO was the one who set this all up for me.

Is it possible to set up another exam without going through my VSO? And how should I conduct myself next time when it comes to dealing with these evaluations?

I am not aware of how the system works against me yet, so thank you for your time and help guys!
