Denied relief from Naval Discharge Review Board
Posted on
Long story short, I would like to thank the members of this sub for directing me to the Naval Discharge Review Board again, citing the liberal consideration they’re now to provide to veterans with a service connected PTSD diagnosis. I appreciate you all educating me on this.
Unfortunately, the consideration for relief is not at all “liberal”. They acknowledged that I have a service connected PTSD diagnosis, but their psychologist reviewed my conduct record (petty NJPs, 4 in a year) and stated “they are unable to determine a nexus between my diagnosis of PTSD and my misconduct.” As such, I have been denied a discharge upgrade.
They also noted that I was given the opportunity to serve out my contract and given a general under honorable conditions discharge. The way they worded it sounded like they were saying “you’re lucky you even got that.”
I feel I’m being fucking rail roaded. I know so many Marines that did so much worse than I did, and never got punished. Some never caught. Some never punished to the same degree due to favoritism and connections.
But I can only worry about ME and MY situation.
I’ve been fighting for his since 2006. I don’t intend to stop. Next, I want to find representation and I want to appear in Washington personally before the board. Does anyone have experience with this? Does anyone have any contacts for lawyers well versed in this that might represent me?
Thanks, all.
