A bit confused with what to do
Posted on
I don't have any records documenting any issues that occurred during service. Is it recommended I see a private doctor to get a diagnosis before I submit my claim? Would it be sufficient if I had a lay statement from a loved one regarding my allergies/rhinitis? Would this be considered a presumptive condition since I served in the sandbox in '08? I don't have any medical records b/c I felt guilty to complain about anything (during or after) considering all the others were suffered so much more.
If it is highly recommended I see a private doctor BEFORE submitting my claim, do I tell my doctor I am trying to submit a claim? Is there anything specific I should get from the doctor (besides a diagnosis) that connects the diagnosis to my service?
If I choose NOT to see a doctor beforehand, can I just wait to see if they send me to a VA doc to get checked?
I filed my intent almost a year ago. It's been difficult to get myself to get checked by private doctors, so I am trying to see what my options are at this point. Sorry for the many questions.
