I’ve been trying to pursue work overseas for several years, particularly in Japan. Don’t care for which specific base.

I’m a former 3D1X2 (or whatever they’re calling it now) and currently a Senior Network Administrator. I’ve applied to various job listings both on USAJobs and ClearanceJobs but I haven’t had any luck even hearing back from the majority of them.

Unfortunately I was never stationed overseas, stuck in ND for my entire Air Force career; as a result I don’t have any connections there save for 2 in Okinawa, where there are apparently no openings.

I imagine part of the problem is also positions prioritizing military personnel that are currently separating there, or the jobs going to people that already live there.

Honestly feels a bit like I’m beating my head against a wall at this point trying to achieve this dream.

If anyone has any advice I’d greatly appreciate it.
