In their 20s, struggling to save and tired of being lectured about it
Posted on
I joined in 2015 at 19yrs old, did my six year contract, and left. I luckily had GREAT peers and mentors in the Air Force who put me on game with saving & investing, using my education benefits, and using the Air Force as a stepping stone to the private sector.
In my mid twenties now, I’m SO SO well off compared to my private sector compatriots my age or younger. They’re juggling student debts, soaring rents, commuter costs, having enough to save & invest, and just to have a vibrant social life as a twenty something.
I post this because it’s what I told my fellow jr Airmen peers while I was in—SAVE, INVEST, and use your free tuition assistance! Prepare for the inevitable “outside world.”
We have it made as military members (veterans too from tax free disability)—set yourself up!
