The army is the greatest thing ever
Posted on
Nearly four years ago, I had a lack of future. I had a 2.6 HS gpa, a nonexistent work ethic, and rejection from college. Because I had a girlfriend at the time, I was afraid to go all in. Determined to prove that I wasn’t a complete loser, I chose the army reserve. I asked the recruiter to let me write down a list of available MOS options and I seriously researched scrolled MOS threads and thought the 35 series was kinda cool. My recruiter talked it up and away I went. I gained nearly 30 lbs in BCT due to double rations and learned actual study habits in AIT. I came out as an honor grad with 30 college credits. That got me into my local state college as a transfer student and I found it easy to maintain a good gpa. My TS/SCI combined with my short stint as a 35F in the army was enough to net me two internships with three letter federal agencies; thus leading to an employment offer as I enter my senior year with a full ride + $37,000 of extra scholarship money. Thanks to the army, I completely turned my life around and have a bright future to look forward to. I read the old “I made 92 on ASVAB what do?” and cringe at all the “doesn’t matter/airforce” comments. Active or reserve, my life would be a lot more shit right now if I didn’t choose a MOS that got me my foot in the door. (The airforce recruiter told me I’d probably be security forces with my ASVAB score). Rant over.
I’ll have a bowl of defac cottage cheese and a choccy milk pls.
