Stop working while you're on leave!
Posted on
I'm specifically looking at you, leaders.
No, your unit won't combust without you. If an organization actually cannot function without any one person, that's a unit problem, not a you problem. Refusing to actually take your leave sets the unit up for failure by allowing it to overrely on one person, and sets a bad example for your soldiers. We all need a chance to disconnect from the Army and recharge with our family and friends.
And for the soldiers: nobody but your commander can make you come back off leave. No, your NCO can't make you come in to do paperwork, attend mandatory training, or do a UA. you're on leave, and you are not required to do anything official unless your commander formally recalls you.
Edit to make something more clear: I've seen more than one person in the comments still talking about how they were/are on leave and their NCO 'makes' them come back to perform an admin task. They literally have zero authority to do that. You can (respectfully) tell them to kick rocks and there isn't a goddamn thing they can do about it. If they're dumb enough to try and get the commander to recall you, they're going to get crushed for having such a stupid idea. Stop giving in to this bullshit!
