SSG with 7 years TIS thinking about getting out
Posted on
Hello all,
I’ll be hitting my 7 years next month, I joined at 19 years old. I volunteered for recruiting and I’m going to my HOR. I’ll be living with my parents for the next 3 1/2 years along with my son (single parent). After this contract is over, I’ll be over 10 years TIS.
I think I’m done after this contract and I’m happy ending it with recruiting at home. If I enjoy recruiting, I’ll end up reclassing to 79R. The Army is changing rapidly, but this is not what I expected it to be. I don’t have a college degree yet, but I’m a few classes from my associates. This next assignment, ill be making about $8,500 every month. I should save a big chunk of money after this contract is over. I’ve been at my current assignment for 6 years now (OCONUS).
How is life for everyone when you guys got out? Was it hard to adapt? What should I focus on and prepare myself for before getting out. I will try to maximize my TSP these next few years also. I always have a plan, but these last 2 years I’ve felt lost.
