Shout out to my brigade OPS SGM for being that "shining example of a true professional"

So I'm part of a work groupchat right now regarding personnel movement. I noticed the other day my brigade OPS SGM had a "less than professional" profile pic. I brought it up to one of the E8s in my company who immediately addressed and the pic below is what he changed it to. How freaking childish is that. You're a grown ass man, one of the most senior enlisted in our brigade, and someone checked you on your unprofessionalism and that's your response. This is the epitome of counterproductive leadership. Look, I have a great sense of humor but this is a work groupchat. Maybe if this was your buddy's dischord channel but this is a work groupchat. The issues we have with SHARP right now are due to not addressing this type of behavior. It really is a slippery slope. If personnel condone this type of behavior or are act complacent about it, then others will see this acceptable and continue pushing the boundaries until it's too late. You have to check your battle buddies if we're going to fix the culture in the Army right now. The sad part about this, is that this particular groupchat had other E8s and company commanders in it. Why they haven't addressed already is beyond me and it speaks for the culture we have right now. Some may disagree with me on this, but I don't care. It's this type of behavior that led to incidents like what happened to SPC Vanessa Guillen. As the Senior Enlisted Advisor, you set the example for every other Soldier in your unit and if this is the example they see, you're setting up for a toxic work environment. Don't be this guy. I said what I said. EDIT: to clarify, this first picture is NOT a picture of said SGM. He's much older and fatter. That pic is some random picture. [link] [comments] |
