Our battalion was recalled over this Labor Day. For a soldier getting a dui and a soldier who had tried some messed up stuff with a minor.
Our whole battalion is doing full duty days in uniform from 0600 to 1800 even though we are on a federal Holliday weekend.
Is that actually allowed to make soldiers do full duty days, because of 2 bad eggs? People here are giving up time with family and it just seems unethical. People are getting FTRs for missing hit times, where that information got pushed out at like 3:00am for the next days formation. People got ftrs for missing it while they were sleeping not knowing there was even a accountability formation because they thought they were on a weekend and went to sleep with no information being pushed out. People wanted to go to IG and were called cowards by an SGM and made to feel wrong for trying to see if anything could be done. People also missed eating lunch, and weren’t able to go to church today.
They even had a formation were they brought people on con leave with hip surgeries who are drugged up and can barely walk to formations for the initial recall. That changed so far so that’s good at least.
The whole battalion is just sweeping concrete and police calling around the battalion until the full duty day is done the whole Labor Day weekend. Surely that’s not allowed to be done? And if it’s not ethical or allowed to be done, do we go to IG? Or is there any regulation that supports this being unethical so we can at least see for ourselves?
