Extra Duty NCO Supervision
Posted on
Joe got a company grade, PL & acting 1SG want an NCO from the platoon to supervise him every day. Sure, I’d love to watch him clean and scrub track marks out of the motorpool all night, but I have a toddler and a pregnant af wife that can barely take care of our kid on her own. The other NCO’s are in similar predicaments, and/or don’t want to waste the little free time we have sitting at work thinking about how much more we want to ETS.
PSG and myself came up with “give him a list of shit to do every day, he reports to staff duty, we will occasionally pop in and make sure he isn’t bullshitting & that he is completing tasks, problem solved”
Acting 1SG said fuck no to that, and said it is not just a punishment for him, but a punishment for the NCO’s that allowed him to be late. Which is bullshit, he’s had plenty of “corrective training”, the behavior continued and the punishment escalated to an article.
Now I decided to stop by staff duty and look at the SOP, it clearly states “SDNCO is in charge of oversight of extra duty personnel” and “Staff duty will supervise the extra duty soldiers 100% of the time”
After showing 1SG that it was something along the lines of “that’s now how this works, he’s not on battalion extra duty, he’s on company extra duty”
I’m pretty sure there’s no regulation regarding this, but how would the knowledgeable Soldiers of Reddit go about this?
I’ll have an original chicken sandwich with a Dr Pepper
