My Dad has ALS. He's been deteriorating pretty quickly and my mom is all by herself taking care of him and its becoming really hard on her. I have been reading up on the emergency leave regulations (600-8-10) to try and see what my options are, but it's kind of confusing so I was hoping to find some help here.

I have been using almost all of my leave to go home and be with him so I have very little chargeable leave atm. If I have 3 available leave days and my commander authorizes 30 days of emergency will I have -27 days on my LES that I have to make up through the year?

Also is this even eligible for emergency leave? for most soldiers it seems to be used for a sudden death or illness complication, but ALS is a slow burn and my mom just needs help taking care of my dad who's becoming more and more dependent on her. Any guidance would be helpful, thanks.
