I'm a SSG with 11 years in and 3 dependents. I'm on an unaccompanied tour to Korea (thanks HRC). I get put into regular enlisted barracks and lose my BAS. So the $450 I was getting to feed myself and my family is now going to the DFAC and I have to send even more money back home to cover my family's food expenses. BUT, a young butter bar LT gets to stay in SLQs and get BAS. I have more time in the army, life experience and other people to take care of but I lose money while the LT gets to pocket more. Seems like Korea financially benefits officers and senior NCOs and the rest of us get screwed over.
