My late grandfather (died in 99) was in the national guard in the 60s. We can't find his dog tags and my grandma thinks he may have thrown them out. (It was a rough part of his life and his first child born 1967 was a few weeks old when he got called out).

My question: were these dog tags the same as every other branch of the military at the time? Also, if possible, where would be a good place to recreate them?
