Can a parent interfere with your military career?
Posted on
I’m planning on trying to join the military when I’m an adult. I’m going to still be living with my mom when I apply. If I were to get accepted, is their anything that she would be able to do to try and get me kicked out? She is very much against me joining the military, to the point I’ve had to lie about what job I want to do when I’m out of school, just so we aren’t constantly fighting. And I even remember at one point she said something along the lines of saying she’d call someone in the military and tell them lies to get me disqualified if I joined.
So is their anything she could actually do to hurt my career? If so, should I just not tell her I’m joining and just completely disappear once I ship out? I’d prefer the satisfaction of just leaving a note saying I’m joining the military, but not if it might hurt my chances.
