Good Times, singing with the Troops
Posted on
I was reading a story the other day when this story popped in my head. I was going to the field, or a range, either way, in the back of a deuce and a half. There were 15 or so of us back there, E5 and below. The ride was going to take a while, as it was five to ten miles or so getting to our location. We were bored, as the hurry up and wait had kicked in and we just wanted to get to where we are going.
So what happened on this long, boring ride in the back of the 2 1/2 ton truck? Sing-a-long! First, someone, maybe me, started singing TV Theme songs, which everyone knew the words. You know how they went...First it was the theme to Gilligan's Island. Then the Flintstones. Then the Brady Bunch, and the Partridge Family. Someone tried throwing in the Addams Family or All In The Family, which not everyone knew all of the words.
The point of the journey and the songs was to kill the boredom and make the journey in the back of the truck go faster, so we could get the hell to wherever it was faster and get back home.
