Russia moves nuclear-capable missiles from Teikovo to Moscow region

The mechanized column of Yars intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launchers made its annual march from Teikovo to Alabino testing range near Moscow in preparation for the Victory Parade-2018 on Red Square.
The route of the column with a length of more than 400 km passed along the federal highway M7 through the Moscow Ring Road.
Since 2008, Servicemen and missile launchers of the Teikovo missile division of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces are taking part in the military parade on Red Square.

The RS-24 Yars (also known as RT-24 Yars or Topol’-MR) is a solid-fuel, road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile system. The RS-24 ICBM was designed by the All-Russia Thermal Engineering Institute. It is based on the same scientific and technological solutions as the Topol-M missile, which allowed for considerably reducing the research and design phase and costs. The Yars was designed to evade missile defense systems.

The 54th Strategic Missile Division located in the town of Teikovo about 150 miles (240 km) northeast of Moscow. The regiments of the Teikovo division are equipped with Topol-M systems and modern RS-24 Yars systems.
