Kyiv will mark the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence with a large-scale parade on capital’s main thoroughfare, Khreshchatyk Street, which will feature about 200 pieces of military equipment.
President Petro Poroshenko emphasizes that Ukraine can be proud of its Armed Forces. He believes that military parade is a good opportunity to demonstrate that.
“Nobody will take away the right of Ukrainians to pay tribute to Ukrainian servicemen. The military parade is a great opportunity to demonstrate that. Ukraine must strengthen unity and patriotism,” Petro Poroshenko told journalists.
The President emphasized that the military equipment involved in the parade would not be taken away from the ATO area. “All equipment that must be on the frontline will stay on the frontline. Moreover, a lot of equipment will be provided to the troops in the ATO area on the Independence Day,” he informed.
The Head of State urged to avoid the distortion of facts and events that took place two years ago: “The tragedy occurred not because of the parade, but because of the invasion of the aggressor”.
“We do not have internal conflicts. We have an armed aggression of Russia against independent sovereign Ukraine. This is the main reason,” Petro Poroshenko said.
