Silver Star Service Banner Day
Posted on
Today we take a few moments to recognize Silver Star Service Banner Day. The Silver Star Service Banner continues in the tradition of the Blue and Gold Star Service Banners that was begun during World War I, and serves as a reminder of those who have been wounded in combat.
The sight of the Silver Star Service Banner serves as a reminder of courage, answering the call of duty, and the sacrifices that often accompany that call. This banner is a reminder for us at home that thousands are protecting us, and that we must do all we can to honor them.
We should remember the wounded and their sacrifices every day, but today a concerted effort is made to specially recognize those families flying the Silver Star Service Banner.
