Rep. Lamborn reintroduces VA accountability bill in the House
Posted on
Representative Doug Lamborn (R-CO) has teamed up with Senator Marco Rubio and reintroduced the VA Accountability First and Appeals Modernization Act to the House. Lamborn has been a longstanding champion of VA reform, and this bill would make great strides bringing needed changes to the VA.
Rep. Lamborn’s home state of Colorado has seen more than its fair share of VA misconduct. The Aurora, Colorado VA hospital construction is years behind schedule and will end up costing well over $1 billion. The costs and skyrocketed from its original cost around $385 million.
The VA Accountability First and Appeals Modernization Act will ensure that firing poorly performing VA employees is expedited and that whistleblowers are protected from intimidation and retaliation by their superiors. In a statement on this bill, Rep. Lamborn said, “We owe it to honest VA employees, American taxpayers, and especially our veterans to hold the VA accountable for misdeeds.” Our veterans deserve nothing less than a VA that fulfills its promise to them.
