This week marks three years since the Phoenix VA wait list scandal broke. Since then, VA facilities across the country have been exposed for manipulating wait times, wasting funds, providing poor quality of care, and retaliating against whistleblowers. So was the situation in Phoenix really that bad? And has it gotten any better? Take a look at the numbers:

Yes, Phoenix was really that bad. The toxic culture and lack of quality leadership perpetuate continued problems at the Phoenix VA. The fact that thousands still wait longer than 30 days for an appoint is proof of that. Congress is finally making moves on accountability reforms and talking through choice reforms. Let’s hope that by now the lessons from Phoenix have sunk in and change is near.
