Will she be in danger or put under contract?

So, my girlfriend whom I love very much had decided she wants to be a chef and a restaurant owner. She has been reached out to by an army recruiter whom has her convinced she will be gone 6 months in total and be able to come back. She’s convinced she will not be fighting at all, she’s convinced she will not have to stay longer than 6 months for training and everything total to help pay for her college. I’ve heard of stories of recruiters lying to people, I do not know if she was lied to or has misunderstood.. it seems a bit far fetched for me to believe if she passes combat training and culinary training the US army will be willing to pay for her college and allow her to return by the second semester of her college year. If she does go into the military for free culinary college, will she have to stay longer than 6 months, will she be put on a reserves list, will she have no way of coming back if she was lied to? Sorry if this seems like something stupid to ask I just really need help with this before she ends up being taken away from me for 2 years or well if deployed maybe life..
