What happens on the battlefield when drones/robots take over infantry and sniper roles?
Posted on
It looks like drone tech is really starting to grow and mature in the Ukraine/Russian war.
Most drones are either short flight battery limited quad copters or long flight powered gliders.
The quad copters can surveil, drop grenades or carry an explosive charge kamikaze style.
The powered glider drones can surveil and mount missiles.
So, we have drones starting to take over the roles of fighter/bombers and mortars/artillery.
What about infantry and snipers.
The ideal sniper drone could hover way above the battlefield and get behind enemy lines?
The ideal infantry drone would have grenades and an assault rifle or SAW?
The thing is when I think infantry drones, I think of those quadruped robot dogs. And they are probably an ideal transport vehicle for short burst fast attack assault rifle quadcopter drones.
Are we on the brink of technology that allows waves of attack drones that cover all the military roles?
