Not sure if this is the right subreddit but I’m just going to post here anyways.
So my ex of 4 months (we dated a little over 2yrs) is leaving for basic training in less than 3 days and I’m so heartbroken to be losing someone I care still so much about, even though we aren’t together. I’m still so in love with that man and we’ve talked about him leaving almost a year ago and now the days are...
What role would tanks play in a modern conventional war?

My grandfather's official DoD file lists his race as Hawaiian...we are all white.

Is this likely to be a clerical error? I can't for the life of me think of a reason why he would be classified as Hawaiian. Our family is of German/French and Irish ancestry.
The race code for white is "1", while he is listed as Hawaiian, for which the code is "5", so it seems unlikely they entered it into the online database incorrectly.
Any ideas? Is this thing common? He served in the Army...
