[Semi-Serious] Active Military Visitors Walking Around Unescorted in Secure Spaces
Posted on
Not sure if this is the right place to post, but for background I am a DoD contractor and work in a high level acquisition program office (Pentagon Level). We had some active duty (ranging from an E6, O1-O3s, and an O5) and civilians outside of our organization utilizing one of our conference rooms, and they were all issued "Escort Required" badges.
They were all walking around the spaces, holding badge access doors for each other going in and out, and some just sitting by themselves shamming in random areas of the office, all unattended and no escort in sight.
I brought it up to a couple others, and they agreed that proper protocol wasn't being followed. Went to the visitor control desk but the dude at the desk was on the phone for over 10 minutes and was still talking by the time all the visitors already left.
Apparently they have been coming in frequently for reoccurring meetings, and while they are active military, it still rubs me the wrong way. I'm no longer in uniform, and not even a GS so not sure what authority I have to say to these folks, especially in a junior position. What would be the best way to approach it if I see it again?
