Replacing ribbons on great grand father's WW2 medals, need help
Posted on
y great grand father fought the entire WW2 as a JCO in the British Indian Army, in an armoured regiment (21 Central India Horse Regiment, King George V's own). He participated in the African and the Italian Campaign and was one of the few handful of survivors from his regiment to come back home in India in 1946. I recently decided to get the ribbons of his medals changed and also get them polished. While researching, I found that the Africa Star has a clasp on its ribbon which says either "1st Army" , "8th Army" or North Africa 1942-43". Can someone tell me their significance so I that I can get the appropriate clasp. Also can someone tell me what type of oak leaf is in the second image (WW1 or 2?) https://i.redd.it/734ft2059ug31.jpg Thank you for reading till the end. [link] [comments] |
