I'm younger than someone I'm in charge of (same rank technically) he won't listen

Hey guys, not sure if it is the correct sub-reddit, but basically, I'm a RAF Chef, and we have a very very junior chef, he's working alongside me, with the intention he picks up skills from me and i guide him. Since's he has been made the same rank as me last week, he has stopped listening to anything I've been telling/advising him to do, and it is purely because I'm only 19, where as he is 22/23. It's both simple and complex things, like he doesn't fill out paperwork properly, keeps serving raw food, storing food incorrectly, and when i tell him to sort it, he gets pissy.
I will add I've been a chef since I was 14, he has only been a chef 8 months.
Any ideas on how to deal with it, considering all my seniors won't talk to him and have left me to it.
