I run a middle school breakfast and assembly, and I need help
Posted on
We are grades 5-8, and I'm looking for ideas for our next event in 2020. We had ours already, since veterans like being with their families on the actual holiday. We usually have a breakfast, and a schoolwide assembly. Students are involved in various ways, such as serving breakfast, telling veterans poems they wrote, having the choir and band perform, having a guest speaker, having decorations put up, and things like that. I have students do a service project, and they can make baked goods to give to the veterans for free. It takes LOTS of planning to get things all worked out. Usually we have 300+ for the breakfast each year.
Our menu is usually:
eggs
hashbrowns
sausage
fruit
coffee
tea
apple juice
orange juice
I'm trying to plan out the event for next year. I need help with some things.
1.What do veterans like? I'm open to ideas in how I can get veterans to enjoy the day.
Getting donations:
2.What companies are good to get donations from? I need things like: blue pens, plastic containers for baked goods, art supplies, plastic silverware, napkins, plastic plates, food (listed above, but open to more ideas),etc.
3.What organizations are recommended for a grant? I'm looking for anything and everything.
4.Any suggestions in general.
Next year, I plan on having booths of various organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project, businesses that can give free items, and students showing off student work.
