Boyfriend Going on Deployment
Posted on
Hey everyone! I am new to posting on reddit so I wanted to hear some experiences or advice. I just found out my boyfriend is going on deployment soon, as well as this is our first one together. He is currently in the Navy and we've been together a little over a year. We get along so greatly, but is it natural/common for the ones getting deployed to pull away/be distant/non-responsive pre-deployment? I've looked into MILSO pages, but thought I'd try on here as well. I'm willing to stay by his side the entire way since I don't believe one should break up with one another just purely because of the other being out to serve our country. He called me for a little bit a couple nights ago and we didn't discuss it, though he's been avoiding my texts. I'm trying not to overwhelm him as I know this upcoming deployment is his main focus and he's probably in a mix of emotions. I just feel like he's pushing me away and I'm terrified. I'm hoping he will speak to me before he heads out, but I'm deeply in my head at the moment and don't know what to do/feel. The last thing I want to do is overwhelm or push him away, but I want to be able to talk to him/possibly see him if he can.
No negative comments please! Again, it's still a little new for me and him as well.
