Years ago I was reading a book that dominantly took place on board a ship (spaceship, mind you, pure fiction) and one line that has stuck with me for some reason was a line from the weapons officer, “Take, take, take, missile away.”

Having done all I could think of to look it up, that “take, take, take” thing doesn’t seem to appear anywhere in real life. My question is, is there some similar piece of terminology that is actually used and this is just some fictional version, or is it something entirely made up for the book?
